About Nigerian Maritime Law Association

The Nigerian Maritime Law Association [NMLA] is the principal association of maritime lawyers and related professionals established since 1977. It is the Nigerian Chapter of the Comité Maritime Internationale [CMI] and one of the most respected organizations in the Nigerian maritime industry, with members cutting across the private, public and corporate sectors, including a number of government parastatals.

Advocacy

We engage with local and national governments industry leaders and practitioners, trade support groups and other key players to educate and promote best practices. We also work to encourage best and fair judicial administration of all admiralty matters.

Capacity Building

We promote the study, research, administration and administration of maritime legislation.

Industry Networking
& Support

We serve as a focal point for collaborative efforts to promote and advance the practice of maritime law. We also support member projects, as needed.

Our members are leading legal practitioners of repute with extensive Maritime Law experience and bring a wealth of expertise to the fore. Admission of membership is not restricted to maritime legal practitioners and is also open to persons involved in various aspects of the maritime industry who are interested in the issues dealt with and the work done by the Association.
